Emojish: guess the song, show, film or saying from emojis
A yellow circle, a ship, a wave... which song is that? In Emojish a row of emojis appears and tells a song, a TV show, a film or a saying. Your job is to type what it is before everyone else. The category shows from the start, and so does the word pattern: how many words, how many letters each. Stuck? At 15 seconds the first letter of every word appears.
Everyone sees the same puzzle and has 30 seconds. Type the answer and press Enter; if you're wrong, only you see "nope" and you can try again. Correct answers score 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 in order of arrival, and everyone after that gets 1. When everyone gets it or time runs out, the answer and the order show.
Pick the category in the lobby: Songs, Shows, Films, Sayings or Mixed. Play 10, 15 or 20 puzzles. The English set is full of pop and rock classics, big TV shows, family films and everyday idioms. The emojis look the same on every device. Or ask each other: set "Who asks?" to Players and everyone takes a turn picking or typing an answer, lining it up in emojis while the others guess; the teller scores 2 points for each player who gets it.
Same puzzle for everyone: first right answer scores 5, wrong answers can retry

How to play
Goal
Everyone sees the same row of emojis. It tells a song, a TV show, a film or a saying.
Type what it is and press Enter. You have 30 seconds.
The category and the word pattern show from the start: how many words, how many letters each.
At 15 seconds the first letter of each word appears.
Points
Correct answers score 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 in order of arrival; everyone after that gets 1.
If you're wrong, only you see "nope" and you can try again.
When everyone gets it or time runs out, the answer and the order show.
Most points wins; on a tie, more correct answers, then more firsts.
Players ask
If "Who asks?" is set to Players, everyone takes a turn as the teller in seat order (once or twice).
The teller has 75 seconds: pick one of three suggestions from the chosen category or type your own answer and its category, then line up 1-8 emojis and send.
The others have 45 seconds to guess; first letters appear at 22 seconds. Same points: 5-4-3-2-1, then 1.
The teller can't guess and gets 2 points for each player who gets it. If time runs out, a ready-made puzzle is asked and the teller scores nothing that turn.
Typing answers
Capitals, accents, punctuation and spaces don't matter.
A one-letter typo is fine in longer answers.
A leading "The" and common short forms are accepted.

FAQ
How do you play?
Create a room, share the link and pick Emojish. A row of emojis appears; type what it stands for and press Enter. The first right answer scores 5, then 4, 3, 2, 1. If you're wrong, try again.
Are there hints?
Yes. The category (song, show, film or saying) and the word pattern show from the start. At 15 seconds the first letter of each word appears. Answers after the hint still score by order of arrival.
What if I make a typo?
Capitals, accents, punctuation and spaces don't matter. In longer answers a one-letter typo still counts. You can skip a leading "The", and common short forms are accepted.
What puzzles are there?
Over 200 hand-made puzzles per language, about 50 per category, chosen for each language rather than translated. The same puzzle never comes twice in one game.
