In The Mole everyone is at the same location and has a role there, except the Mole, who has no idea where they are. You take turns asking each other questions about the place. Give too much away and the Mole figures it out; stay too vague and suspicion falls on you.
The group tries to catch the Mole with a unanimous accusation, while the Mole tries to name the location without getting caught. It plays with 3-8 people, nobody is eliminated, and after a few rounds the highest score wins. A game takes about 30 minutes.
If you know Spyfall or other 'who is the spy' games, you will pick this up instantly. The Mole is independent and not affiliated with Spyfall. Questions are asked out loud, so play in the same room or on a Discord or WhatsApp call.
The screen handles turns, timer, accusations and voting, so nobody has to sit out as moderator.
Each player gets one accusation per round, and a single 'no' vote is enough to drop it.
The Mole can say 'I know the location' at any moment and stake everything on one guess.
The host sets the number of rounds and the round length.
A demo against bots lets you learn the rules before your first game.
How to play
Goal
Everyone is at the same location with a role there, except the Mole, who has no idea where they are.
The neighborhood hunts the Mole; the Mole tries to work out the location.
3-8 players, no elimination; several rounds, most points wins.
1. Read your file
At the start of a round everyone checks their secret card: location + role, or THE MOLE.
On stream your card stays face down. Press and hold to read it.
Questioning starts when everyone is ready.
2. Questioning
Questions are asked OUT LOUD; the screen only shows whose turn it is.
The current player picks someone and asks them a question about the location.
After answering, that person picks the next one. You can't pick whoever just asked you.
Don't be too obvious (the Mole will catch on) or too vague (you'll look suspicious).
If you don't pick within 45s, the turn passes at random.
3. Accusations
During questioning everyone gets ONE accusation per round.
The round clock stops; everyone except the suspect votes yes/no.
It must be unanimous: a single 'no' sinks it and questioning resumes.
Convict the Mole and the neighborhood wins; convict an innocent and the Mole wins.
4. The Mole's gambit
During questioning the Mole may say 'I know the location' at any time.
One guess from the list: right and the Mole wins, wrong and the neighborhood wins.
5. If time runs out
Everyone secretly votes for a suspect at once.
The single top vote-getter is convicted; on a tie the Mole escapes.
Scoring
Mole escapes: +2; names the location or gets an innocent convicted: +4.
Neighborhood wins: every innocent +1; whoever started the winning accusation +1 more.
FAQ
How is The Mole different from Spyfall?
The core is the same: everyone knows the location except one player. In The Mole accusations must be unanimous, a secret vote happens if time runs out, and points carry over across rounds. It is Toyla's own game with no official link to Spyfall.
How many players do I need?
3 to 8 players. A game takes about 30 minutes, and the host can adjust the number of rounds and the round timer in the lobby.
Do we need voice chat?
Yes. Questions are asked out loud and the screen only shows whose turn it is. Play in the same room or use your own Discord, WhatsApp or Zoom call. Toyla does not have built-in voice chat.
Is it free?
Yes. The Mole is free, with no download and no sign-up. Enter a nickname and join the room.
