Close Call: the online guess-the-number trivia game for friends

Every question in Close Call has a number for an answer: “How tall is the Statue of Liberty?”, “How many bones are in the human hand?”, “How long is the Golden Gate's main span?” Nobody knows exactly, so the goal is to get closest. Everyone has 40 seconds to type a guess.

Then every guess lines up on a number line, smallest to largest, and identical guesses merge. Everyone bets on the guess they think is closest: their own, or the know-it-all's across the table. Closest guess scores 3, a winning bet scores 2, so even someone who knows nothing can win by backing the right person.

A free browser alternative for fans of Wits & Wagers; Close Call is an independent game with no official connection to Wits & Wagers. Every answer comes with a short, source-checked fun fact. Create a room, share the link, and 2-12 players join from a phone or computer.

FAQ

How do you play?

Create a room, share the link and pick Close Call. Each question you type a number; then the guesses line up and you bet on the one you think is closest. Closest guess +3, betting on it +2.

How is the closest answer decided?

By percentage error: the guess that's off by the smallest percentage wins. If two guesses are equally close, both count and both score.

How is it different from Wits & Wagers?

The idea is similar: number questions and betting on the closest answer. Close Call runs entirely in the browser, everyone plays on their own phone, and no shared screen or box is needed. It's an independent game with no official connection to Wits & Wagers.

How many players?

2 to 12. Pick 7 or 10 questions; a game takes 10-15 minutes.
