Racon: an online secret role card game to play with friends
Racon is a secret role card game set in a 1970s Istanbul neighborhood. Everyone gets a hidden role; only the Baba plays face up. On your turn you draw cards, throw a Slap, play a Dodge, or drink Tea to win back reputation. Run out of reputation and you leave the neighborhood. The last side standing wins.
On Toyla you create a room and send the 6-character code or link to your friends, who join from a phone or computer. A game takes about 20 minutes with 4-7 players. Not enough people yet? Play the demo against bots to learn the rules first.
If you like secret role card games such as Bang!, Racon will feel familiar: the Baba and his Enforcer against the Traitors, with a Lone Wolf playing for himself. Racon is an independent game and is not affiliated with Bang!.
Four secret roles: the Baba (played face up), Enforcer, Traitor and Lone Wolf. You work out who is on whose side from how they play.
Seating matters: attack range starts with your neighbors and grows with gear like the Flick Knife, Knuckles or Chain.
Each player picks a character that sets their reputation and gives them a special ability.
All roles are revealed at the end, so you finally see who fooled whom.
The host can set the turn timer to 30, 60 or 90 seconds.
How to play
Goal
A hidden-role bluffing game set in 1970s Istanbul.
4-7 players; when your reputation runs out you leave the neighbourhood.
Everyone gets a secret role. Only the Baba plays face up.
You know your own goal, never the others' roles.
Roles
Baba: plays face up, starts with +1 reputation. Must remove the Traitors and the Lone Wolf.
Enforcer: hidden. Wins if the Baba wins.
Traitor: hidden. Must bring the Baba down.
Lone Wolf: hidden. Must be the last one standing.
All roles are revealed at the end of the game.
How a turn works
First draw 2 cards from the deck.
Then play as many cards as you like.
You may throw at most 1 Slap per turn.
Finally discard down. Your hand limit equals your current reputation.
Range
Players sit in a circle; distance is the number of seats between you.
Eliminated players don't count towards distance.
Base attack range is 1. Only your neighbours.
Gear like the Flick Knife, Knuckles or Chain extends your range.
When you pick an attack card, players in range are highlighted.
Attack and defence
A Slap attacks one player within range.
If the target plays a Dodge they avoid it; otherwise -1 reputation.
A Challenge starts a duel: Slaps are traded until someone can't answer.
In a Raid everyone must throw a Slap or lose 1 reputation.
A Volley hits everyone else with a Slap at once.
Other cards
Tea gives +1 reputation; the Coffeehouse gives everyone +1.
Loot and Big Score let you draw cards.
The Pickpocket and the Nail take a card from someone else.
Gear is placed in front of you and works permanently.
The Police Post and the Time Bomb are status cards placed on a target.
Characters
During the opening ceremony everyone blindly picks a character.
The character sets your base reputation and special ability.
For example: Lucky Şahin draws face up, Angry Osman may Slap without limit.
Characters are public. Unlike roles, they are not secret.
Winning
Baba's side: wins when all Traitors and the Lone Wolf are out.
Traitors: win if the Baba falls.
Lone Wolf: wins if they are the only one left when the Baba falls.
If the Baba eliminates their own Enforcer, they discard everything.
Whoever eliminates a Traitor draws 3 cards as a reward.
