Slip of the Tongue: the spoonerism word game

Bunny Phone, Belly Jeans, Toad Rip... Everyday two-word phrases appear with their first sounds swapped. Your job is to find the real one: Funny Bone, Jelly Beans, Road Trip. It's a quick, silly word game built on spoonerisms, and reading them out loud is half the fun. Pick a difficulty in the lobby: on Easy the first letters swap (Bunny Phone), on Medium the first letters stay put and an inner letter or syllable swaps (Garten Pardy), on Hard two swaps happen at once or letters rotate across three words; Mixed draws from all of them.

In typed mode everyone sees the same phrase and has 20 seconds. Type the real phrase and press Enter; if it's wrong, only you see "not quite" and you can try again. Correct answers score 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 in order of arrival, and everyone after that gets 1. When everyone has it or time runs out, the answer and who got it in what order are shown. Pick 10, 15 or 20 phrases in the lobby.

In voice mode the host presents and doesn't play. The player on turn has 45 seconds: the host reads scrambled phrases aloud, the player says the real one, and the host taps Correct or Pass. When time runs out the turn ends and that turn's phrases are shown with their answers. In ordered play everyone gets the same number of turns; in free play the host asks whoever they like. Play in the same room or on a voice call, in English, Spanish or Turkish.

FAQ

How do you play?

Create a room, share the link and pick Slip of the Tongue. A phrase with swapped letters appears; type the real one and press Enter. The first right answer scores 5, then 4, 3, 2, 1. If you get it wrong you can try again.

How does voice mode work?

Voice mode is for the same room or a voice call. The host presents and is the only one who sees the answers. The player on turn has 45 seconds to say the real version of each scrambled phrase the host reads; every correct one is a point. It needs at least 2 players besides the host.

What if I make a typo?

Capitals, accents and spaces don't matter, and in longer phrases a one-letter typo still counts. Typing the scrambled version as it is doesn't count.

What phrases are there?

About 150 hand-written everyday phrases per language: kitchen, home, food, school, holidays and other things everyone knows. No brand names. The same phrase never comes up twice in one game.
