Emoji Match: find the matching symbol game online

Emoji Match has a deck of 57 round cards with 8 emojis on each. Here is the trick: put any two cards side by side and exactly one emoji appears on both. Never two, never zero, always one. If you are looking for a find the matching symbol game online to play with friends in the browser, this is it.

In free for all, one card lies face up in the center and everyone holds their own card. Spot the emoji your card shares with the center card and tap it on either card. The first tap to reach the server scores, and the center card becomes your new card while a fresh one is turned over. Everyone else keeps their card, but their match is now a different emoji, so every card is a new race.

Sizes and angles keep you on your toes: a huge lion on one card can be tiny and sideways on the next. Random tapping does not pay either, because a wrong tap freezes you for 1.5 seconds. In Tournament mode everyone enters a knockout bracket, duels are played one at a time and the rest watch live with both cards visible. In Duel mode the host picks two players and everyone else spectates.

FAQ

How do you play Emoji Match?

Create a room, share the link and pick Emoji Match. Find the emoji your card shares with the center card and tap it on either card. The first tap scores and takes the center card; the game lasts the number of cards you chose and the most finds wins.

Do any two cards really share exactly one emoji?

Yes, always exactly one. The deck is built from a finite projective plane: 57 cards, 57 emojis, 8 emojis per card, and any two cards share a single emoji.

What is the difference between Tournament and Duel?

In Tournament everyone is paired at random and with an odd number left someone gets a bye; duels are played one at a time. In Duel the host picks two players and only they play. In both, a duel goes to the first to find 3, 5 or 7 matches.

Does a faster connection give an advantage?

Every new card stays face down for a split second and then turns over for everyone at the same time, and late taps on an old card do not count. The winner is the first correct tap to reach the server.
